As part of its efforts to enhance the Foundations› strategy, priorities, initiatives and performance indicators related to the objectives and outcomes of the Abu Dhabi Government’s Strategy, and in line with the directives of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak (May God protect Her), Supreme Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation; Chairperson of the UAE Women’s General Union and the Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Motherhood & childhood the Family Development Foundation hosted the 31st International Arab Children Congress from 13 to 20 November 2011. The Congress was held under the patronage of H.H Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, and the Presidency of Her Majesty Queen Noor Al Hussein, Founder & Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees of the King Hussein Foundation, in cooperation with the Jordanian King Hussein Foundation represented by the National Center for Culture and Arts, the main organizer of the conference. This cooperation comes within the framework of strengthening the strategic partnership at the regional level.


The launch of the International Award of Arab Youth, emanated from the conference and announced during its activities, came as a generous gesture of H.H Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak (May God Protect Her), Supreme Chairperson of Family Development Foundation, to be the highlight of the key activities of the Annual International Conference of the Arab children, and to emphasize the importance of recognition of the outstanding achievements and capabilities of the young Arab youth worldwide. The award will also contribute to promoting thought and culture of sustainable development in future Arab generations and the young people, as well as to encouraging their active role on the international level and emphasizing the award’s slogan of the Global Leadership and Sustainability within Arab visions.

The award comes in recognition of outstanding Arab efforts in building generations on a global scale in order to develop their cultures and capabilities to the highest international standards and boost the young people’s role in active participation in building their countries and communities, as well as their true contribution to achieving the comprehensive and sustainable development socially, economically and environmentally. It is worth mentioning that Her Majesty Queen Noor Al Hussein, Founder & Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees of the King Hussein Foundation, reviewed the name of the congress, and she took a decision to change it from Children Arab Congress to Youth International Arab Congress by 2012, this is considered to be compatible with the age category of participants which ranges from 12-18 years.

Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Supreme Chairperson Of The Family Development Foundation Chairperson Of UAE Women`s General Union Chairwoman Of The Supreme Council For Motherhood & Childhood, the sponsor the award,was born in Al Ain. The Gate of Al Ain Palace Museum is an important historical symbol in the United Arab Emirates. The selection of it links the name of the award with H.H Sheikha Fatima’s name.


Stars : symbolize the success and the look to the summits, and this is related to the meaning of the three award categories.


Globe : indication of the comprehensiveness of the award for all young people in the world, as symbolizing universality and sustainability.


Colors : color diversity illustrates youth innovation, knowledge , joy and multiculturalism.
